Not
long ago, a miracle popped its head out and ended the 30 plus years of
economical and societal enmity between the world and Iran with the passed Iran
Nuclear Deal. This unfathomable achievement can be comparable to the historical
end of the Cold War, since it prohibits another ravaging war that could only
make the situation in the Middle East beyond repairable. Almost every single
country in the world supported, congratulated and embraced the deal with open
arms, except Israel, Saudi Arabia and the Republican caucus in United States.
Even though Saudi Arabia changed their opinions and joined the rest of the
world, Israel and the Republican caucus still call the deal a “resounding
mistake”. When the deal was passed, Iranians all around the world celebrated
like never before, as Germans celebrated the crumbling of the Berlin Wall.
However, also not long ago after the deal, a bill was passed in United State
that would brutally restrict Iranians of their freedom to travel to United
States. H.R. 158 is a Visa Waver program that includes all citizens and
non-citizens of Iranian heritage that have traveled to Iran in the last 5-8
years, to be screened, interrogated and restricted from Traveling to and
outside of United States. This bill has caused outrage among the Iranian
community, as many claim to treat Iranians as second-class citizens while
comparing it to the restriction laws of Nazis against citizens and non-citizens
of Jewish heritage. It is absolutely discriminative to treat children who were
born in United States but had parents of Iranian heritage that have traveled to
Iran to be screened, interrogated and restricted from traveling. It is as if
another step to Trump’s ban of Muslims campaign, before him even getting
elected. The most outrageous part, however, is how Iran was caught in the
crossfire of this visa waiver program along with Iraq, Sudan, and Syria, while
countries that have actively trained, housed and supported terrorists such as
Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. walk completely free from this visa
waiver program. If there is one country in the entire middle east region that
shouldn’t be condemned, that country is Iran, with it’s track record of
fighting terrorist organizations from before United States getting involved,
and never ever being part of a terror act against another country. This
visa-waiver program just added more bricks to the enmity wall between U.S. and
Iran that was brought down with the Nuclear Deal, and I wouldn’t be surprised
if this bill was slipped through by Republicans and/or Israeli lobbyists to
throw a wrench in the cog of the nuclear deal.
